Top Tips To Keep Your Windows Sparkling Clean

With the current social distancing guidelines in place, we all have a little more time at home than we are used to, so why not put it to good use?
When the sun is shining, there’s nothing nicer than sparkling clean windows, and we have put together some of our favourite tips to make your windows cleaned to perfection, with no streaks! Give them a try - you can’t say you don’t have time!
Start with a dustpan and brush
A commonly forgotten tip, but one of the most important! Over time, dust collects in the inside of window frames, so you should always give them a quick dust before you start your window cleaning. Otherwise, you will just smear the dust all over the window and create twice the work! If your dustpan is too big, try a toothbrush, it’ll get inside all those nooks and crannies!
Water and vinegar solutions are the best
Can’t get your hands on cleaning supplies? You don’t need them! A little bit of washing up liquid and water will easily do the job, but one of the best ways to clean your water is by creating a solution with two tablespoons of vinegar to one bucket of water. What’s more, the windows near the kitchen or bathroom are prone to collecting hard water deposits. White vinegar can get rid of those too! A microfibre or lint free cloth is best to use with this.
It was in the paper!
Did you ever see your parents or grandparents shining up the window with a newspaper? Turns out they were on to something! To remove any last remaining streaks, crumple a few pages into a ball and start buffing! It’s a tried and tested tip!
Potato removes tricky stains
There’s nothing more Irish than cleaning your windows with a slice of potato, but we have heard that the starch inside it makes it a great way to remove long-wearing and difficult stains! Rub the stain well with a slice of raw potato, and then leave it a few moments for the starch traces to dry. Remove them with a solution of white vinegar and water, and your window will be stain-free!
Pick the perfect weather
A sunny day might inspire you to clean those windows, but it turns out that cloudier days are actually perfect window-cleaning weather. A bright and sunny day is more likely to dry out your windows before you have the chance to work your magic, leaving them streaky. Pick a cloudy day and leave sunny days to BBQs in the back garden!
